Members of our Prep and Senior Bouldering Clubs visited Avid Climbing in Ipswich at the weekend.
Five Prep pupils attended the indoor, Suffolk-based climbing facilities on Saturday (January 27th) with Mrs Sophie Ffitch, who is our former Director of Ely Scheme. The session started with a thorough warm-up and safety briefing, which was followed by detailed tuition on some of the climbs that the students would be attempting. After lunch, the group started to tick off their ascents.
On the Sunday (January 28th), eight Year 9 members of our Senior Bouldering Squad and Mrs Ffitch then headed over to Ipswich. After their warm-up, the students tried out different route gradings, watched others climb, and challenged Mrs Ffitch to show them how to do some trickier routes. Despite some sore fingers at the end of the day, the squad had a fantastic time and really improved their skills!
