You are never too old for a spot of space hopper racing, right?!

These photos were taken at our first Sixth Form Social of the new academic year, which was held in the Old Palace Gardens on Friday, September 8th.

The majority of the activities on the evening were organised by members of our Prefect Team. They decided to make the most of the beautiful weather by putting picnic blankets out on the lawn, and organising a variety of fun team games and competitions, including sack racing, egg-and-spoon racing, and space hopper relays.

Music and a delicious barbecue served by our Catering Team all contributed to what was a brilliant social to round-off a busy first week back at school.

Our Sixth Form cohort this year is the largest it has been for some time. More and more Year 11s are staying at King’s for their A-Level studies, and more and more pupils are joining our Sixth Form from other schools.

Small study groups, a wide range of subject and co-curricular choices, a vast enrichment programme, fun socials, welcomed independence underpinned by respect, and a stunning location that is Ely’s Old Palace, combine to make the Sixth Form experience at King’s truly unique.

Maria, who joined King’s Ely Sixth Form in 2021 and is off to Loughborough University this autumn to study Textile Design, said: “The sense of community at King’s is very strong. Although most of the students in my year group were at King’s for longer than me, I always felt included and appreciated for my own talents. Walking into the Old Palace everyday was such a privilege. It felt like I was studying in a Pinterest board!”
