Fred will be studying Agriculture at the Royal Agricultural University after achieving the A-Level grades he needed.
Fred joined King's Ely Acremont Pre-Prep in Year 1. He studied History, Politics, and Geography at A-Level.
When asked what he plans to do career wise, Fred said: "I hope to join the Army after University."
To describe King's in three words, Fred chose "enjoyable, supportive, unique".
When asked about the teaching and learning environment at King's, Fred said: "The quality of teaching was always very high. Small class sizes meant that the teaching could be tailored to suit the individual. I very much enjoyed the subjects that I took for A-Level, and although they were challenging, my teachers were able to support me and break the material down into more understandable chunks, as opposed to a wave of information all at once. I also participated in 'An Other Club' in Year 12, which helped me to better process large texts and take the key details out of them. This really improved my ability to answer source-based questions when they arose in exams."
Fred was hugely into his Sport at King's, and he was a key member of both our 1st XV Rugby and 1st XI Cricket Teams.
Fred said: "I will really miss the Sport at King's, as it was professional and a great deal of fun. I most enjoyed the Rugby as the coaches made it incredibly enjoyable, and they were crucial in the success that the 1st XV Team enjoyed in recent years. There really is only one Mr Batty! I also enjoyed photographing various school sporting events over the years."
When asked what he thinks makes King's a unique place to study, Fred said: "At King's, you are a name and a face, as opposed to just a name on a register. As such, you can develop a really good rapport with the teachers and staff. King's is a fantastic school in a spectacular setting."
Other things that Fred says he will miss about King's are the Sixth Form events and socials, our annual House Song, and the school meals. He said: "The food at King's was top class, both in the Monastic Barn and in The Refectory. Special mention to The Refectory staff, who allowed me to embody my personal mantra of 'Salads don’t win Scrums'!"
Congratulations Fred - enjoy Cirencester and keep in touch!
