KING’S Ely Senior’s History Cafe returned this week with Mr Lowery leading a very interesting and informative talk on Florence Nightingale.

Students learned about her career in the Crimea, where her hospital reforms made great inroads into the non-battle related mortality rate; her subsequent fame and recognition; and her impact in other fields, including her pioneering development of the Coxcomb Chart.

The talk was delivered with customary humour and wit in Director of Studies at King’s Ely Junior, Mr Lowery’s much-loved and inimitable style.

History Cafe returns in a fortnight when Head of School, Felix Hawes, will deliver a much-anticipated talk on representations of History in Doctor Who.
