Our first ‘Senior Theatre Masterclass’ of the Lent Term took place after school this week and it was led by our very own Drama Prefect, Tom Bateman.

These workshops for students in Years 9-13 are usually led by external practitioners and theatre professionals, but Tom, who is in Year 13, certainly gave them a run for their money with his ‘Character Building Masterclass’.

Tom, who joined King’s Ely Junior in Year 3, inspired his peers with a whole host of skills that he has learnt during his significant involvement in our Drama and Theatre Department over the years – and during his time at the RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art) last summer.

Patrick Wilson, Director in Residence at King’s, said: “The group learnt lots of valuable skills that can be used for future productions and drama class work. The department would like to extend a big thanks to Tom for leading this masterclass, and we hope that he learnt as much from the experience as we all did from his excellent workshop!”

We have another Senior Theatre Masterclass being held this month – an ‘Improv Comedy Masterclass’.
