WE were delighted to welcome South East Cambridgeshire MP, Lucy Frazer, into school to adjudicate our students’ entries in her annual Inter-School Parliamentary Debating Competition.

Pupils who competed were Imogen R, Alexander N, Aoife G, Anja H-R, Hettie R, Heath W, Cyrus A, and Isabel S.

The event took place in our Porta Library and students debated the motion: ‘This House believes no issue is more important than Climate Change’.

Mrs Frazer said: “With some passionate exchanges and excellent interventions, it was truly a thrilling competition. The students’ discussion was insightful and well-considered. All the students were fantastic but King’s Ely will be represented by Cyrus and Aoife at the grand final next month in the House of Commons.”

King’s Ely student, Isabell Mitchell, won the competition last year, which had to be held virtually due to the pandemic.

Good luck for the finals Aoife and Cyrus!
