THERE was energy and enthusiasm in abundance during ‘A Play in a Day’ at King’s Ely Junior on June 3rd.

Three facilitators from the fantastic London-based organisation, Polka Theatre, ran the full-day workshop with Year 5 pupils, which culminated in performances to parents and families in the Morbey Hall in the evening.

Teacher of Drama at King’s Ely Junior, Kathryn Sudbury, said: “Each facilitator worked with a Year 5 class on a Shakespeare play and guided them with the language used, elements of physical theatre and story telling through theatre. Throughout the day the energy and enthusiasm in all three workshops was wonderful! The pupils were smiling and excited.

“Plotting, revenge, fighting and murder seemed to top the bill in all three of the tragedies chosen and at the end of the day the parents were treated to a performance of Julius Caesar by 5CC, Hamlet by 5OP and Macbeth by 5JW. Well done everyone and thank you, as ever, to Polka Theatre.”
