ELY Cathedral’s Choirs of girls, boys and men came together to perform in a spine-tingling Candlemas Concert.

The concert on February 2nd saw the cathedral lit up with 7,500 candles – a beautiful atmosphere in which to enjoy the varied programme of music.

From Bach’s O Jesu Christ Maine’s Lebens Licht to Wood’s Hail Gladdening Light, the choir told the story of the presentation of Christ in the temple. Interspersed with reflections by the Very Revd Dr Jeffrey John, it was a moving and poignant evening to say the least.

Ely Cathedral Girls’ Choir and Ely Cathedral Boys’ Choir, all of whom are students at King’s Ely, performed alongside the Layclerks in the concert.
