“I was a student at King’s Ely from King’s Ely Acremont Nursery right the way through to completing Sixth Form, and in those years I was exposed to a vast array of opportunities.

“Being an Ely Cathedral chorister whilst at King’s Ely Junior kick-started my musical interests, and with the constant support of the school’s Music Department, Grade 8 in three instruments soon became a reality.

“Journeying through King’s Ely Senior allowed me to experience even more opportunities aside from Music. The Ely Scheme enabled a once in a lifetime trip to summit the tallest mountain in North Africa on New Year’s Day, as well as numerous mountaineering and climbing trips in and around Europe.

“The support given by fellow Old Eleans is astonishing. King’s Ely were able to put me in contact with Charlie Butler-Henderson (also an Old Elean), a professional racing driver who enabled me to start my dream career in Motorsport. With the support and guidance of the Sixth Form team, I was able to secure a place at Loughborough University to study Automotive Engineering MEng, and I have now completed my second year.

“I am now going to be working at McLaren Automotive for my placement year as an Engineer within the Motorsport Department. None of this would have been possible without the opportunities provided by King’s Ely, or the support and genuine interest that all of the teachers have towards each and every student succeeding.”
