As if our Comic Relief Red Nose Day celebrations on Friday, March 15th were not egg-citing enough, the chicks had hatched at King’s Ely Acremont Nursery and Pre-Prep too!

The Happy Chick Company supplied us with four incubators filled with fertile chicken eggs last week – one for Nursery, one for Reception, one for Year 1, and one for Year 2.

The first chicks started to pip their way into the world on Wednesday afternoon, and by Friday the majority had hatched – much to our children’s and staff’s delight!

Our fluffy friends will be with us until the end of next week, before the team from The Happy Chick Company come to collect them and rehome them to local smallholders and poultry enthusiasts.

Over the weekend, the chicks were cared for by members of staff, and on Monday morning, they came back into Nursery and Pre-Prep, ready for the children to learn lots more about their growth and development.

What a fun and engaging way to bring the children’s Science learning to life!
