THE Board of Governors is delighted to announce the appointment of John Attwater to be the next Principal of King’s Ely on the retirement of Sue Freestone in August 2019.
John is currently Headmaster of King Edward’s School Witley. He began his teaching career at Wells Cathedral School where he became Head of Religious Studies and resident Housemaster. He was appointed Deputy Head (Co-curriculum) at Sevenoaks School in 2006. He moved to his current Headship in 2010.
John was a cathedral chorister before going to Rugby School as an Academic and Music Scholar. He studied Philosophy and Politics at The Queen’s College, University of Oxford, and trained as a teacher at the University of York.
