Anna will be studying Chemistry at Keble College, Oxford after achieving the A-Level grades she needed.
Anna joined King's Ely Acremont Pre-Prep in Year 2. She studied Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths, and Physics at A-Level.
When asked what she plans to do career wise, Anna said: "I would like to pursue a career in scientific research, probably in organic or physical chemistry, but I do not know yet whether I will want to go into academia or industry. I will have to see where my University studies lead me!"
To describe King's in three words, Anna chose "enriching, supportive, fulfilling".
Anna said: "The sheer amount of opportunities at King’s is unparalleled, and to have so many quality activities to partake in a place with wonderful history all around you is so unique. I had the opportunity to leave King’s for Sixth Form, but staying was the best decision I ever made. Nowhere else can you get such a unique blend of history, opportunities, support, and success. There is truly something for everyone at King's."
Anna was appointed Co-Deputy Head of School and a Queen’s Scholar, roles which she says gave her"plenty of chances to lead the school and which were such rewarding and enriching experiences".
Describing the teaching and learning environment at King's, Anna said: "Throughout my time at King’s, I was always known as an individual, allowing me to have great personal relationships with my teachers. They always pushed me to do my best and they understood exactly what I needed to succeed – whether it be extension questions in class or some one-on-one time with them to help me grasp a topic I was struggling with. The immense support my teachers gave me through the whole University application process was invaluable, from helping with my personal statement to prepping me for my interview. I am so grateful for their encouragement and support."
When asked how well supported she has been pastorally at school, Anna said: "My tutors and housemistresses continually provided a good listening ear when I needed it. In the Old Palace, Mrs Halls was incredible and always provided excellent advice. Any issues I had were resolved as soon as possible."
Outside the classroom and laboratory, Anna was heavily involved in the Music scene at King's, and as many of you will know, she is a very talented cellist.
Anna said: "I participated in Orchestra, Strings Orchestra, Spikes, Chapel Choir, Chamber Choir, and a few smaller groups. We performed regularly in school concerts, and individual musicians have the chance to perform in Lunchtime Lives and the Scholars’ Concert at the beginning of each year. I even had the opportunity of running a charity event where the Sixth Form musicians taught their teachers to play their instrument! There were also a few choir tours during my time at King's, which were such amazing experiences that I could never forget. I absolutely loved being part of the musical community at King’s."
When asked what she will miss most about King's, Anna, who also enjoyed playing Netball for the school, said: "I will really miss the amazing community within the school and the fantastic socials offered in Sixth Form! The Music Department was such an integral part of my life at King’s, and it is difficult to leave it behind, but it has given me such a good grounding for continuing my involvement in Music at University. I have honestly enjoyed my whole experience at King’s."
Congratulations Anna - enjoy Oxford and keep in touch!
