“THIS week we saw some charity events punctuate our usual routines. The ice cream sale and the Year 4 fun run saw donations flood in for our charity collection – congratulations to Eliza and Raffi in Year 4 for galvanising their chums into action on behalf of others! Other students also stepped up this week to speak to the governors and explain how they use their collective pupil voice to help us shape the school in ways they welcome. We applaud them in offering themselves in service to others or in raising funds for people less fortunate than themselves.

“Next week will see Year 5 heading off to Ironbridge for their residential, after their week in the bicycle saddle mastering new skills as part of Bikeability Week this week. The week at school for all the other children will culminate in a Red, White and Blue Day and a Platinum Jubilee Tea for them on School Field on Friday 27th May. King’s Ely Acremont Pre-Prep and all of the Junior children will come together to sing the National Anthem, take tea and enjoy a Red, White and Blue Day! There will be no charge for the non-uniform that day but some children will need to select clothing suitable for their usual sports lessons on the day please. We will be on the lookout for the most patriotic outfit on the day and so, if the colours or the Platinum Jubilee itself offers inspiration, do please encourage the children to join in and perhaps receive a prize.

“As part of the Jubilee celebrations at school, all the Junior children will be presented with a bespoke King’s Ely Commemorative Platinum Jubilee Mug, which we hope they will cherish long into the future. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy a lovely weekend and look forward to an exciting week ahead of the half term break.”
