“Whilst Prizegiving next Friday largely focuses on academic prizes, I was delighted to hear that 16 of our current and former pupils were invited to Buckingham Palace on Monday in recognition of their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards.

“The Gold Award reflects a major achievement and demonstrates commitment, perseverance and service over a significant period of time. It requires a certain mindset to achieve the Gold Award. Participants are pushed out of their comfort zones in terms of physical stamina, developing new skills, voluntary work, and mixing with different people. This is why it is highly regarded by participants and employers alike.

“For the younger pupils embarking on their Bonze DofE Expeditions this weekend, I wish you well and I hope the weather is kind.

“With best wishes.”
