“IN the midst of a tough news week in the UK, the new dawn signalled by the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in Washington heralded a more hopeful future.
“The highlight of the inauguration for many observers was Amanda Gorman’s recital of her poem, ‘The Hill We Climb’. The 22-year-old Harvard graduate overcame a speech impediment in her youth to become the first US National Youth Poet Laureate in 2017. On Wednesday she became the youngest ever inaugural poet, joining the ranks of Robert Frost and Maya Angelou.
“In her own words…
“The new dawn blooms as we free it. For there is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it. If only we’re brave enough to be it.”
“All the very best for the week ahead.”
