“IT was a pleasure to spend some time visiting the various Ely Scheme activities in the bright sunshine on Thursday morning. Problem solving, construction, communication and orienteering were some of the skills being developed by the Year 9s. However, it was the leadership by the older pupils, the Pupil Instructors, that particularly stood out. Whilst examination grades are important, the ability to lead, to communicate and to work in teams are of fundamental importance. These qualities cannot be weighed or measured but I am delighted that they are an integral part of the curriculum here, with the bonus of ensuring all pupils are out in the fresh air.

“On a different note, a big thank you to everyone who donated items for the Ely Foodbank Harvest Festival collection. Once again, pupils and parents have shown great generosity in their support.

“With my best wishes for the weekend.”
