“IF you have visited Acremont this week, there is no mistaking that we are in a celebratory mood! Acremont and Nursery children arrived at school today in a vision of red, white and blue which matched the flags and bunting that adorn our buildings. In between spellings, swimming and recount writing, the children have been crafting away to prepare for our street parties that we were all looking forward to this afternoon. Whether here at Acremont or over at King’s Ely Junior, our children were taking part in a very special day of fun and history to celebrate the seventy-year reign of Queen Elizabeth. On behalf of King’s Ely, we are very pleased to give each child a commemorative china cup which will come home with them to record this special event and the memories we have shared today.

“As we come to the start of the half term holidays and pause for breath before the sprint that will be the final five weeks of the academic year, it is worth reflecting on this wonderful term so far. School is truly back at full speed with trips to Ely Museum, Audley End and the Tower of London. It has been super to see parents again at events such as the fun Mega Messy Morning, the joyful Year 2 Music Recital, the ‘Safer Online’ information evening, and our series of hybrid ‘At Homes’. We have attended Cathedral and visited the green houses at the Old Palace. Pre-Prep children have truly impressed their teachers with their swift changing and independence during their intensive swimming weeks at the KEJ pool and both Nursery 2 and Year 2 have enjoyed the start of their transition programme visiting new parts of King’s Ely and meeting new teachers. It seems only fitting then that we conclude today with party games and an afternoon tea!

Looking ahead to Sunday 12th June, Acremont and Nursery staff will be supporting our Marketing Team at the 2022 G’s Open Farm Sunday event in Barway. As part of our plan for engaging craft activities on the King’s stand, we will be inviting families to plant-up an old wellington boot. To assist us with this, please can we ask you to save any old wellington boots that your children may have grown out of, which can be brought into the Acremont office or Nursery staff room upon our return from the half term break. Thank you in advance for any help you can give us. We hope to see many of you at the event in June.

“On behalf of all of the staff at King’s Ely Acremont and Nursery, I wish you and your family a restorative and very happy half term holiday.”
