“ALTHOUGH the half term holiday is in our sights, we have enjoyed a busy week of intensive swimming lessons for Year 1, a Nursery Mega Messy Morning and a lunchtime visit to the Monastic Barn for Year 2. Over the last few weeks, our Reception classes have been carefully observing the changes from frogspawn to tadpoles and now froglets in class, and the staff and children have decided that it is time to release the small frogs back to the garden pond and continue to observe their development and adventures from the observation deck. Watching this amazing metamorphosis during the term has been a wonderful learning opportunity and has given great inspiration to activities that the children have completed in class.

“As we entered Smile Month on Monday, our ‘Big Idea’ Assembly, led by Ms Gervasio, focused on keeping our teeth clean and the importance of going to the dentist, brushing regularly, and having a healthy smile.

“We look forward enormously to celebrating the Platinum Jubilee next week. Our day of flag waving, street party and games will take place on Friday 27th May, which is the last day of this half term. With Nursery celebrating in the garden and Pre-Prep combining with Junior School children, we will be wearing red, white and blue, singing the National Anthem and reflecting on the Queen’s promise of service and duty back in 1953, as we take a look at key events from her reign during our assembly time. We look forward to seeing the wonderful ‘patriotic’ ensembles chosen by the children, as they join us for School and Nursery sessions on Friday.

“With our Reception children about to embark on their busy week of swimming, the much anticipated Year 2 Music Recital, and the promise of exciting trips to Audley End House and London, not to mention much flag waving and celebrating, we will certainly end this half term in a flurry of wonderful experiences, if not a little out of breath!!

“I wish you all a happy and fun-filled weekend together…”
