“AS the momentum builds towards the summer holidays and the end of the academic year, at Acremont this week we firmly had our sights in the moment and on the here and now! We have greatly enjoyed a jam-packed week of welcoming visitors, memorable events and much preparation.

“As I have sat at my desk or walked around school, Acremont has appeared to have transformed into the set of ‘Fame’ and the New York High School for the Performing Arts! Year 2 are reciting lines in the shade of our oak tree in the garden, Year 1 are singing loudly from Mrs Monk’s classroom and Reception children are rehearsing their stage exits and entrances on the ground floor. We have all been practising for our year group productions next week, when we take to the stage at the Hayward Theatre for the first time in Acremont history! The children are so excited to share their hard work and dramatic moments with you.

“Not to be out done, Nursery 2 are also rehearsing for their leavers’ celebration at the end of term, which promises to be a super event on the morning of Friday 8th July. Nursery have also been very sociable this week, celebrating two lovely events in the garden, both of which were drenched in sunshine. Thank you to both parents and the Nursery Team for supporting the children to enjoy a successful ‘Sports Day’ event on Tuesday. It was so lovely to have our full Nursery community together in the garden. The thrills and spills of running races, space hopper practice, throwing and ball skills were replaced with the gentle calm of the annual Teddy Bear’s Picnic yesterday. And our soon-to-be Receptioners were joined by future new classmates and their classroom teachers for September.

“On the subject of September, how can I not mention Move-Up Morning? It is with anticipation and excitement that the children experienced a small taste of the year to come on Wednesday morning. As I walked from class to class, there were many happy faces already starting on creative displays to make their new classrooms their own, ready for September. I was very pleased to welcome our new teachers this week to take part in our transition activities and meet parents at drop-off and collection in the afternoons. They have now received thorough information handovers and they are eager to jump on board after such a successful few days with us.

“So, as we sew on the final sequins and put the finishing touches to our performances, the excitement builds to share our assembly productions with you next week. Until then, I wish you all a sunny and happy weekend!”
