“As a chill creeps into the morning drop-off and falling leaves keep Mr Austin even more busy, we have enjoyed a sociable and celebrating kind of week. From ‘Step into the Classroom’ to parent consultations, it has been wonderful to share the very successful start to term we have enjoyed across Nursery and Pre Prep.

“Children from our Reception classes proudly escorted their families into their classrooms, demonstrated their knowledge of classroom routines, introduced new friends, and shared their favourite activities and learning. It is super to see how the children have taken to developing their phonic learning, are well into experimenting with number, and are delving into their home reading with the same enthusiasm that they give to sand and role play. Much appreciation here of course, for the children’s eagerness and curiosity, must go to our Early Years Team for such thoughtful and well-planned transitions.

“On Thursday afternoon and early evening, it was a pleasure to greet parents as they arrived for the first ‘settling in’ consultation of the year. Offered both in-person or online, it is a valuable opportunity to receive feedback on these important first few weeks. Thank you for everyone’s encouraging comments on the internal refurbishment of the House. With final touches booked in for the Michaelmas Half Term holiday, please do join us for our second parent consultation later in November and we will certainly look more colourful then!

“As always at Acremont, there is never a quiet week, and I am looking forward to our European Day of Languages on Monday 25th September which will be led by Madam Bryan and Mr Hart. Sharing cultures, experiencing different languages, and developing curiosity for language is fascinating and exciting, and will hopefully stimulate continued study further on in school. We are also approaching Harvest Festival which is a seasonal time of sharing and celebration in our school calendar. Alongside Fairstead House and King’s Ely Prep, it will be a pleasure to come together in the Cathedral, hand our charity donation over from last year, and mark the occasion in song and prayer. Following the Service, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils will spend a few reflective moments in the Cathedral to observe the special Harvest displays that have been installed, before we walk back to school for the remainder of our day.

“And finally, on Friday 29th September, our wonderful team of FoKSE parent representatives invite our community of parents to join them in the Acremont Hall for a special coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The coffee morning will be held between 9.30am and 10.30am, and all donations received will be given to this most worthy charity. If you would like to donate cakes to the event, these can be dropped off in the school office on Friday morning. Please contact your year group representative for further information. The event will then be followed by the Year 2 ‘At Home’ which will now be held between 10.30am and 11am in the Acremont Library.

“With best wishes for a restful and relaxing weekend.”
