“What a colourful way to end a rather wet and grey week! Along with our friends at King’s Ely Junior and Senior, Acremont and Nursery children came to school in non-uniform attire today to lend their support to the Children in Need campaign. We were a dotty, spotty, sporty and sequinned collection of Eleans, and thank you enormously for the very generous donations we have received.

“Our week began with a very interesting Assembly as we welcomed Angelique Davies from the Blue Cross to receive our charity donation collected during last year. King’s Ely Acremont raised a staggering £1,693.13p and this was gratefully received by Ms Davies. We learnt about all the important ways the charity makes use of donations and it brought back fond memories of our sponsored disco-danceathon and our whole school version of the macarena and conga around the field. And just like today, whilst there is a serious purpose, there can also be much joy in taking part in a shared endeavour.

“International students from King’s Ely Senior joined us on Tuesday afternoon to reveal the wide range of languages and cultures that we are fortunate to share within the wider community of our school. The children were enthralled to listen to new languages, watch presentations, and speak to older students about differences in experiences, celebrations, and schooling.

“Next week, we look forward to Pre-Prep Parent Consultations on Wednesday 23rd November and also to welcoming Nursery 2 parents to our Reception Year Information Evening on Friday 25th November. As families are considering next steps after Nursery, we will be discussing life at Acremont Pre-Prep, introducing the Reception Teachers, and offering tours of the House to give you a sense of the dynamic and nurturing experience our children receive.

“And finally, whilst in disbelief that we have come to ‘that’ time again, costume information will be sent home today for the Christmas Service next month. Whilst Year 2 will be bringing home their lines to be learnt, Reception and Year 1 pupils will also be encouraged to practise at home the songs they will perform. Please can I thank you in advance for the important and valued contribution that you make as parents to our school life. Our Service will take place in the Cathedral at 14:30 on Wednesday 14th December. Parents and extended family members are warmly welcome to join us for this very precious event and share a mince pie or two following the Service.

“With best wishes for a happy and restful weekend.”
