OUR A Level Government and Politics students enjoyed a live Q&A session with a member of the UK House of Lords on November 16th – Baroness Sally Hamwee.

Baroness Hamwee is a Liberal Democrat Politician and the Lead Home Affairs Spokesperson in the House of Lords. She is a Life Peer and former chair of the London Assembly.

Year 12 and 13 students asked Baroness Hamwee a wide variety of questions, from the functions of the Lords, to discussion around reform and the role of local government.

Sharon Jackson, Teacher of Government and Politics at King’s Ely Senior, said: “We were very grateful that despite the current restrictions, students had the opportunity to engage with Parliament and speak directly to a member of the House of Lords. The session really helped our Year 12 and 13 Government and Politics students to consolidate their understanding of the role and function of the House of Lords within the UK Parliament.”
