OUR A Level Business Studies students enjoyed a Dragon’s Den style Business Conference just before the end of term.

Working in teams of three, they spent just over a fortnight developing a business plan for a new high street shop/business of their choice in Ely, as well as creating posters and presentations to showcase their business proposals.

The businesses were called ‘The Library’; a cocktail bar and cafe, ‘Smagoolies’; a smoothie bar, and ‘Treehugger’; an organic shop selling cooked food and ingredients.

The teams then presented their business plans to a panel of judges made up of Mr Williams, Mrs Moscatelli, Mr Axworthy and Mrs Halls, who also fired questions at the budding entrepreneurs.

After much deliberation, the judges awarded the Best Project prize to ‘The Library’ and Jamie Cooper won the Best Student prize.

Head of Business Studies at King’s Ely Senior, Alastair Wilson, said: “The Business Conference was a fantastic way for these A Level students to put their ideas and skills into practice. They performed admirably, with professionalism and maturity, and should all be really proud of their efforts.”

Well done all!
