Proceeds from sales of our ‘2023 Student Academic Journal’ have raised £315 for charity!

The pupil-led publication was launched three years ago. Each year, a small team of student editors compile the best Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) essays and competition essays written by Sixth Form students, and reproduce them in a concise form for people to enjoy.

There are thirteen essays in this year’s edition and topics range from humanities and arts-based issues, like the reunification of Cyprus and the development of storytelling in video games, to an investigation of immortality and an exploration into the relationship between electrostatic forces and aluminium dust.

This year’s editors – Elliot Dickson, Alice Wallace, PiaoPiao Li, and Eloise Suiter – decided to split proceeds from sales of the publication between two charities – WaterAid UK and The Kite Trust.

WaterAid is an international charity striving to make clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere. The Kite Trust is a charity supporting the wellbeing and creativity of LGBTQ+ young people in Cambridgeshire through information, support, and groups. We have raised a total of £315, which will be split equally between the two charities!

We were delighted to welcome Bethan Rees, Programme Manager (Schools and Training) at The Kite Trust, to our final Senior Assembly of the Michaelmas Term, to find out how much the charity will be receiving from us, and to meet Elliot, Alice, Eloise, and PiaoPiao.

Thank you to everyone who has purchased this year’s journal. A few copies are still available. Please contact Mr Colin Currie for more information – colincurrie@kingsely.org
