EIGHT of our Year 9 King’s Ely Senior students have been successful in this year’s Young Fashion Designer UK competition!

First Place – Ofelia Keenan
Highly Commended – Iris Warriner
Highly Commended – Benjamin Alderton
Highly Commended – Zion Noble
Highly Commended – Rose Tisi
Highly Commended – Gracie Holmes
Highly Commended – George Long
Highly Commended – Matthew Chippington

The theme of the competition was ‘Sustainability in Fashion’. Young designers from across the UK got creative by producing a research page about one area of sustainability, a page of pattern and/or fabric samples linked to their chosen area of sustainability, and four outfit designs for any occasion, including aspects of their research and their fabric samples.

As you can see from their submissions, we have some very talented, environmentally-aware young designers in our midst!

The Young Fashion Designer UK competition was established in 2010 by the former Head of Textiles, Karen Wintle, at Kent College Pembury. The need was recognised for GCSE, BTEC and A Level Fashion and Textiles students to have their work recognised and judged by industry professionals in an annual national competition.

Congratulations Ofelia, Iris, Benjamin, Zion, Rose, Gracie, George and Matthew!
