FIVE of King’s Ely’s Year 12 girls participated in a Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Expedition training trip in Derbyshire over the weekend.

The students – Charlotte Hamilton-Bing, Lucy Lott, Molly Van Poortvliet, Anna Marie Slaymaker and Viana Yau – summited Kinder Scout and Win Hill on each of the two days, to become familiar with the type of wild countryside terrain that Gold expeditions cover.

The students had a mixture of weather conditions, which enabled them to test their equipment and refine their navigation skills in preparation for their practice expedition next Easter.

Well done team!
