STUDENTS in Withburga, one of our Senior Girl Day Houses, are going out of their way to support Ely Foodbank this Christmas.

Withburga girls in Year 12 came up with the idea of filling empty shoeboxes with Christmas food items, treats and small toys/activities, which the foodbank volunteers can then distribute to local families who are in crisis.

The kind-hearted Sixth Formers got Withburga girls from all year groups (Year 9-13) on board with their initiative and, as a result, they have filled a whopping 35 shoeboxes with goodies!

Sue-Ellen Godde, Housemistress of Withburga, said: “The girls and their families have been so generous and thoughtful with their shoeboxes, and we hope this brings some joy to families in this time of need. Thank you to the Year 12 girls for the ideas and driving it with the other forms, and Mr Atkinson for organising this with Ely Foodbank.
