OLD Elean, Will Topping, is running the 2022 Brighton Marathon on April 10th to raise as much money as he can for the mental health charity, Mind.

Will, who is working as a Geo-Environmental Consultant in Cambourne having graduated from the University of Birmingham, is taking on the 26.2-mile route with three of his university friends.

Will, whose mum, Liz, teaches Art and Design Technology at King’s Ely Junior, said: “The reason we chose the charity Mind is because we all have close friends who are suffering or have had close friends who have suffered with mental health issues. It is an issue that rightly is being evermore talked about and awareness raised. We are running the Brighton Marathon to help with that aim and to get as many people as possible the help they require.”

When asked what his fondest memories of King’s Ely are, Will, 22, said: “My fondest memories would probably be all of the sport opportunities that were available. I rowed, I swam, and I played rugby and football. Academically it is the Geography Department, particularly Miss Kyndt and Mrs Thomas, and the Art Department with Mr Ward and his dog.
