In which year group did you join King’s Ely?

I joined King’s Ely Junior in Year 4.

What GCSE grades did you achieve this summer (2019)?

I achieved two grade 9s, one grade 8, five grade 7s and two grade 6s.

Were you pleased with your results?

I was very pleased with my results, particularly Drama as I achieved a grade 9 and got a grade 7 in my mocks. I was also pleased with Classics as I started the course towards the end of Year 10 and got a grade 6.

Were you well supported by your teachers in the lead up to your exams?

Yes, very. All my teachers gave me lots of physical and online resources to help me revise, as well as revision techniques. They also offered a lot of support sessions which I was able to go to before an exam.

Why have you chosen to stay at King’s Ely for Sixth Form, and what are you most looking forward to?

I chose to stay at King’s Ely because I love boarding here, as well as what is offered in the Music, Drama and Ely Scheme departments.

What A Level subjects are you going to be studying and, if you know this yet, what sort of career are you hoping to pursue?

I am going to do Music, Drama and Psychology with the intention of having a career in Music.

What extra-curricular and enrichment activities are you/have you been involved with at King’s Ely, and how do you feel this enhances your experience of school?

I have been heavily involved in Music and Drama throughout my time at King’s Ely. I was a cathedral chorister in Junior School, and since moving into Senior School have been a member of the King’s Barbers. I have also been involved in the school musical every year in Senior School and taken part in various acting masterclasses. As well as this, I have done a lot of Ely Scheme activities and really enjoy being an Ely Scheme Instructor. I have focused mainly on climbing and bouldering for extra-curricular trips and have represented the school at competitions. All of the extra-curricular activities on offer at King’s Ely really helps you to find out what you enjoy and what you are good at.

In what ways do you think King’s Ely is different to other schools?

I think one of the great things about King’s Ely is the diverse set of extra-curricular activities to be involved in. It shows that there is more to school than just academic grades. I also think that the House system and the House spirit that goes along with it is a crucial part of school life.
