In which year group did you join King’s Ely?

I joined Kings Ely in Nursery One.

What GCSE grades did you achieve this summer (2019)?

I managed to achieve two grade 9s, five grade 8s and three grade 7s.

Were you pleased with your results?

I was exceptionally pleased with my results! I did better than I anticipated, particularly in Science, which has meant that I can now study two of them at A Level.

Were you well supported by your teachers in the lead up to your exams?

The support I received before my exams was incredible. After the mocks in January, I attended a support session for Music every Friday lunch break which helped me to move up from a grade 5 to a grade 8.

Why have you chosen to stay at King’s Ely for Sixth Form, and what are you most looking forward to?

I have chosen to stay at King’s Ely because of the sheer opportunity on offer in the Sixth Form. I am excited for the socials and for the independence.

What A Level subjects are you going to be studying and, if you know this yet, what sort of career are you hoping to pursue?

I am studying Chemistry, Biology, Psychology and English Literature. I am thinking of studying Medicine and becoming a psychiatrist.

What extra-curricular and enrichment activities are you/have you been involved with at King’s Ely, and how do you feel this enhances your experience of school?

I was lucky to be awarded a Sports Scholarship into Year 12 and Sport has greatly enriched my experience at King’s Ely. It has allowed me to mix with older and younger students and it creates a real sense of camaraderie. I have also been heavily involved with the school’s Drama and Music departments, performing in multiple concerts and shows such as the ‘Merchant of Venice’ and ‘Grease’. These are such rare opportunities to be given, so I have tried to make the most of them!

In what ways do you think King’s Ely is different to other schools?

King’s Ely is different to other schools because of its history and its sense of family. There are so many traditions and events which bring the whole of the school together, which is what makes it such an amazing place to learn. Events such as House Song allow everyone to be included and it is probably the best House competition of the year. Also, the teaching style at King’s Ely allows pupils to feel supported and feel like they are truly invested in as they bring out the best in you.
