TODAY’S ‘Thankyou Thursday’ goes to… Our school community from the Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT)!

Ellie Bridges, Community Relationships Coordinator at the ACT, contacted King’s Ely this week to thank us for raising £1,758 for the Addenbrooke’s and Rosie Hospitals.

The majority of the funds were raised in October 2020 when a group of intrepid King’s Ely students swam the equivalent of the length of the Channel Tunnel in the school swimming pool. The challenge saw 27 pupils swimming 50 kilometres in 1 hour and 20 minutes (in year group safety bubbles).

Ellie said: “Thank you so much for thinking of ACT when organising this fantastic fundraiser! Your support will help to keep the hospitals a happy place, and less frightening. It will help buy brand new equipment and transform the care our patients receive. It supports our already brilliant doctors and nurses in their research and training, making sure that your local hospitals can offer the very best care day after day, year after year.”

Thank you ACT and thank you to everyone who supported the swimmers with their fundraising!
