"We are so pleased that our son made the most of all the opportunities available to him during his time at King’s Ely. He has come away with a first-choice University place, but more importantly, because of the many opportunities at the school, he is a more confident and resourceful individual with skills to cope with the challenges of life.
"We have always appreciated the school’s broad and inclusive vision of success which is celebrated in its many forms, and that care is taken to nurture the academic, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development of pupils.
"For our son, being part of the school’s endurance challenges and Duke of Edinburgh's Award programme has tested the limits of his physical and mental endurance in safe and fun ways. School trips have expanded his view of the world, especially during the outreach work in Kenya. The House system has given him leadership opportunities and vital teamwork and communication skills. The commitment to the ‘toasties at break’ business was a great example of this, and made thousands of pounds for charity at the same time.
"Music has been so important to him and from Year 9, when he joined a small ensemble of very talented saxophone players, his musical enjoyment and ambition skyrocketed. Excellent teaching and the multiple opportunities to play in ensembles and concerts refined his skills, and by Year 12 and 13 he was playing alongside professional musicians for the school’s productions and concerts.
"Teachers have always taken the time to know him as an individual, and thanks to the learning support team, identified and adapted to his learning differences and supported the ups and downs of his teenage years. We are very grateful for all the support he has been given to become the rounded and resourceful young man he is."
