"Our daughter, Rosie, joined King's Ely Prep in Year 6 in January 2025. Rosie was previously at a small village primary school, and she was really struggling. We decided to look at private schools to see if they could help her. As a family, we took to King's straight away!
"Director of Admissions, Mr Nick Tappin, showed us around the school. His knowledge and passion was so engaging. He spoke to Rosie continuously on our tour, asking her lots of questions and he was genuinely interested in her as a person. A Year 8 student then showed us around the classrooms, which was informative and lovely to hear directly from a pupil. We then had an informal chat with Mr Simon Kibler, Head of the Prep School. We discussed Rosie's issues at her previous school, and we talked in-depth about her and how she felt about joining King's. Rosie had already decided that King's was the right school for her, and Mr Kibler thought it was best that Rosie started at King's sooner rather than later to realise her potential and be happier. He was not wrong!
"Rosie has changed so much since joining King's - she is going from strength to strength. She is more confident in her classes, where she feels she can express herself and be challenged. She has never really been a fan of sport but she is now really enjoying netball and badminton! Rosie loves King's Voices, the after-school Science Club, and she has enjoyed Karate Club with Dr Church. Rosie loves her teachers and everyone at King's, and always has things to tell us about them and her day, which we love!
"Rosie has truly blossomed and she has received lots of recognition for her achievements and efforts in school, including being awarded a 'Contribution to School Life' prize last summer at the Prep School Prizegiving Ceremony in Ely Cathedral. We are so proud of her! She has also volunteered to show families around the school on open mornings, and at the March 2026 open morning, she gave a talk about her King's journey so far to a hall full of prospective parents and their children.
"We know that Rosie is seen and heard at King's, and that the school understands how important this is for all of the children’s wellbeing. We cannot recommend King's enough. The school tailors its educational experiences to meet the children’s individual needs, ensuring that every child benefits from the school's diverse environment.
"Our lives are so much better as a family since Rosie joined King's. Every morning when I drop Rosie off at school she is happy, and every afternoon when I collect her, she is happy. This for us, says it all!"
