ON a very hot and humid evening (July 3rd), the dance and black box studios at King’s Ely were filled with audiences ready to support the 20 strong GCSE Drama cohort with the performance and examination of their devised work.

There were four pieces, and each group of five have been rehearsing since the start of the Lent Term in class, culminating in an impressive and confident set of performances.

Director of Drama and Theatre at King’s Ely, Nick Huntington, said: “The pieces were slick, well rehearsed and ambitious in ideas. Themes ranged from the effects of social media, societal oppression, drug abuse, peer pressure and family breakdowns.

“There were some hard hitting moments, as well as some more light-hearted, comic touches. A fantastic evening of Drama was enjoyed by friends and family and a huge congratulations to all actors involved.”
