OCTOBER 16th was ‘Green Day’ at King’s Ely!

Sixth Form students Charlotte Wilkinson, Darcey Newell, Lucy Lott and India Thomas, pictured with ‘Eco Warrior’ Arthur Plews, organised a whole host of activities, including a green-themed non-uniform day, which they hope will have raised at least £1,000 for Greenpeace UK.

The girls also organised a bake sale which raised £194 for the charity, plus there was a ‘clothes swap’ in the Torfrida and Withburga Common Room (any leftover clothes will be taken to a local charity shop).

Posters were put up around school informing students and staff of simple steps they can make in order to lower their carbon footprint, and lunch in the Old Palace Refectory was vegetarian only for the day – thank you Mrs Taggart and team!

After half term, the Sixth Form team will be selling reusable travel mugs around school so keep an eye out for them at school events, parents’ evenings etc.
