KING’S Ely’s final Sixth Form social evening of the academic year took the customary and popular form of a barbecue in the Old Palace courtyard.

With decent weather and a good uptake of around 120 members of Years 12 and 13, this was the last time the whole Sixth Form would have the opportunity to enjoy each other’s company before exam leave commences for those in Year 13.

Pastoral Head of Sixth Form, Graham Griggs, said: “The wonderful Old Palace catering team, under Jane Taggart’s devoted guidance, delivered superb barbecue fare before the delights of a bouncy castle and ball games.

“In my nine years watching over our Sixth Form, it has been a pleasure to deliver around 70 socials in all, some grander in scale, some themed and others more casual. It has been a happy way of maintaining morale within a cohesive community spirit and to acknowledge the public spirited commitment of our most senior students whose influence extends down from the very top of the school.

“Our social calendar has undoubtedly helped to nurture our Sixth Form society by making life at this pivotal point a unique and memorable experience.”
