Our A-Level Historians enjoyed an educational trip to London to complement their current medieval studies.

Thirty-eight students visited the British Museum and the Museum of the Order of St John on January 10th.

Mr Colin Currie, who is Head of History at King’s Ely Senior, said: “First up, we visited the British Museum to see their Medieval and Anglo-Saxon collections, with the treasures of Sutton Hoo being a particular highlight. Pupils then had some time to take in some of the museum’s other exhibits, including the Rosetta Stone and Parthenon Marbles.

“After lunch, we visited the Museum of the Order of St John for a bespoke tour and object handling session, tailored to our Crusades course. Highlights included visiting the medieval crypt of the Order’s Church and deciphering the iconography of Crusader coins.”
