CONGRATULATIONS to our U14A Hockey girls for winning their Tier 2 County Tournament in Cambridge yesterday (September 29th)!

As a result, the team will now represent Cambridgeshire in the Regional Finals, which are being held at Redbridge and Ilford Hockey Club in November.

U14A Coach, Kevin Daniel, who is Head of Physical Education at King’s Ely Senior, described the girls’ performance in the tournament as “outstanding”.

Mr Daniel said: “The team beat Joyce Frankland Academy, Newport 5-0 in the opening game, with a brace from Phoebe Hart and Odette Dudley (Captain), whilst Juliette Hames scored the opening goal from a fine solo run. In the final game, King’s won 1-0 against Saffron Walden County High School, when Alexandria Styles fired home from close range.

“The team were solid in defence and were so good that Eve Kittoe did not have to make a save all day! The fab four in defence were Nicole Hobbs, Martha Midwood, Emma Smythe and Imogen Smith. Special mention also to Lucy Brett, who led the forward line with great energy and skill.

“The girls were outstanding in the tournament – a great bunch with tremendous team spirit!”

Students who played: Odette Dudley, Alexandria Styles, Imogen Smith, Florence Henderson, Martha Midwood, Eliza O’Donnell, Lucy Brett, Nicole Hobbs, Emma Smythe, Isobel Guyer, Eve Kittoe, Chloe Scott, Phoebe Hart and Juliette Hames.

Well done girls and good luck for the Regional Finals!
