Our Reception pupils at King’s Ely Acremont Pre-Prep have been learning all about ‘Superheroes in our School Community’.

The children have visited our Medical Centre and met our School Nurses, they have learnt about some of the emergencies that our local firefighters attend, and these photos were taken when they visited our Old Palace Gardens to meet two superheroes in their own rights – Will Temple and Lee Yearn, from our Grounds Team.

Will and Lee gave Mrs Strudwick’s and Mrs Funnell’s classes an informative walking tour around the gardens, showing them the magnificent Great London Plane Tree, which is more than 300 years old, has been hailed one of the finest in Britain, and is so significant that it even has its own place in national heritage.

The children collected some beautiful leaves from the ground, and Will and Lee explained why leaves turn different colours in the Autumn. They walked through Clara’s Garden and enjoyed playing with the chimes in the sensory area, before safely gathering at the pond to feed the fish and Malcolm, one of the resident ducks!

The children’s adventure concluded with a trip to the school’s greenhouses and polytunnels, where they got to see thousands of plants in different stages of growth, all of which will be planted around our 75-acre campus over the coming weeks and months.

Thank you to Will and Lee for taking time out of their busy schedules to show Reception around!
