CONGRATULATIONS to King’s Ely Junior pupils, Eliza and Raffi, whose wonderful fun run has raised £280 for the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal!

Eliza and Raffi, who are both in Year 4, were determined to do their bit to support the appeal. When the girls voiced the idea of a fancy dress fun run being held at school, their teachers leapt at the opportunity and the event was rolled out to all Key Stage 2 children to help raise as much money as possible.

The fun run took place after school on May 19th and was blessed with glorious sunshine. Mrs Petherick and Mr Everest joined the children to complete as many laps of School Field as they could in 20 minutes. Some sprinted, some skipped and others walked, and in true King’s fashion, even those not taking part were on hand to support each other and cheer everyone on.

Just after the fun run had finished, Eliza said: “Although we might all be in pain now, that is nothing compared to the suffering that others are going through.”

Well done and thank you to everyone who supported the event!
