CONGRATULATIONS to Old Elean, Harriet Pinto, who has achieved a First in her Philosophy Tripos degree from Jesus College, Cambridge.

Harriet, who left King’s Ely Sixth Form in 2016, says she is over the moon with her results.

She added: “I’ve absolutely loved my time at Cambridge! Obviously lockdown has meant we can’t have the graduation or end of exams celebrations we were expecting, but it was great to celebrate at home with my family. Cambridge are arranging for us to have a degree celebration with our whole year group when it’s safe to do so, hopefully in 2021.

“Lockdown has also affected my plans post graduation so I’ll be at home in Ely for a while whilst I apply for grad jobs and I’ll be doing an internship in London in the autumn.”

When asked what her fondest memories of being at King’s Ely are, Harriet said: “I have great memories of being at King’s – the best are probably of the times I spent with my friends and playing sport for the school, which I loved.

“King’s Ely Sixth Form definitely helped prepare me for University effectively. My History and Latin Teachers in particular always gave us opportunities to do wider reading beyond the curriculum and discuss the new ideas, which was ideal preparation for my degree.”
