KING’S Ely Drama Prefect, Orlando Squires, and his team of Drama Scholars and enthusiasts collaborated to create a wonderful evening of ‘comedy, cabaret and more’ earlier this month.

Within the intimate setting of the Black Box was a small stage complete with a shimmery back-drop, mood lighting, electric candles, tables, beanbags and of course, the mics themselves.

Director of Drama and Theatre at King’s Ely, Nick Huntington, said: “Ten acts took to the stage in an informal presentation and we saw comedy sketches, musical theatre ballads, poems, a reading from a novel and an upbeat number from a newly formed quartet. Altogether – a very impressive student-led evening!”

What’s more, the Open Mic Night also raised more than £60 for PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide – congratulations to Orlando and everyone involved!
