KING’S Ely Senior student Eleanor MacGillivray is one of only 24 students nationally who has been invited to participate in a UK Mathematics Trust Olympiad Initial Training Camp, to take place at Queen’s College, Oxford.

The invitation has come as a result of Year 10 student Eleanor’s excellent achievements in several Maths competitions over the last 12 months.

Head of Mathematics at King’s Ely, Audrienne Bezzina, said: “Eleanor is a student who never gives up on a question – she will keep on trying until she understands a concept and gets the right answer. We are all very pleased with her success this year and extremely proud of her being chosen to attend this camp.

“A few of the most able young mathematicians in the country are invited so that they follow a week intensive training in Mathematics outside the conventional syllabus. This training camp is also used to identify potential members of a squad of students who will continue training throughout the year with a view to represent the UK in one of the future International Mathematical Olympiads.

“The training camp will have an emphasis on problem solving and it is a great opportunity for Eleanor to meet and work with others who have similar interests and exceptional abilities.”

Congratulations Eleanor!
