WE are very excited to reveal to you members of our Chapel Choir’s tribute to the NHS – ‘Like A Rainbow Shining‘ – written by British composer, Will Todd.

Members of the choir came together – virtually – for the recording, and like Will, we are pretty chuffed with the end result.

Will said: “I am so thrilled that Kings Ely has enjoyed working on my song, Like A Rainbow Shining, and that students have been able to connect as a virtual choir in these difficult times. Best wishes to you all. Keep singing and shining!”

Will says he wrote the “song of hope” after taking inspiration from the trend of painting/drawing rainbows and putting them up in windows as a sign of a hopeful future.

We are releasing three versions of the song – this version (members of Chapel Choir from King’s Ely Senior), King’s Ely Junior’s Chamber Choir and Choristers, and then a version with all pupils involved.

Around 60 pupils have taken part in total by sending in audios, videos or both. Our Director of Music, Neil Porter-Thaw, went to work on mixing the audio which took a considerable amount of time, before Caz Hill (daughter of our own Linda Hill) assisted Mr P-T with the video editing.

You may remember that a Justgiving page was set up earlier this year by Patrick Green, which has so far raised £530 for NHS Charities Together. If you enjoy this recording, please do consider making a small donation in honour of the incredible work being carried out by our NHS and frontline staff here: https://bit.ly/37nGIx2

We hope you enjoy the song as much as our students have enjoyed being involved!
