SKILLFUL Fashion and Textiles students from King’s Ely Senior are preparing for a prestigious exhibition in the capital.

Around a dozen A Level Fashion and Textiles students will be showcasing their flamboyant garment designs and accessories at this year’s Spring Knitting and Stitching Show at London’s Olympia. The extravaganza, which is being held from March 2nd to 5th, is renowned as being one of Europe’s biggest textiles exhibitions.

Director of Art at King’s Ely Senior, Alison Rhodes, is understandably excited. She said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and is a valuable experience that contributes to their coursework, UCAS applications and future employment. King’s Ely students were invited to exhibit in the Textile Gallery at the show this year which will provide a wealth of useful contacts. Our students will be able to investigate new materials sourced from the show, as well as make contact with professional designers. Links have already been made with The Great British Sewing Bee!”

King’s Ely Fashion and Textiles students achieve some of the best GCSE and A Level results in the country, with many students going on to study at internationally-renowned universities and colleges such as Chelsea, Ravensbourne, Central Saint Martins, London College of Fashion, Royal School of Needlework Hampton Court Palace, Edinburgh and Falmouth.

The Spring Knitting and Stitching Show is the definitive event for anyone with a love of textile based craft. It champions creativity with hundreds of workshops, demonstrations and interactive features on offer, as well as around 200 exhibition stalls.
