A group of our King’s Ely Senior pupils who are working towards their ‘Language Leader Award’ popped over to King’s Ely Acremont Pre-Prep on November 15th.

The fifteen-strong team visited Acremont House with Melanie Franklin, who is our Head of ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), to meet children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

The Senior students, who are from all corners of the globe, taught our pre-preppers some fascinating facts about their home countries and some key phrases in their languages, such as “hello” and what dogs and cats are called, in Croatian, Bulgarian, Uzbek and Ukrainian, to name just a few.

Available nationally, the Language Leader Award helps students learn how to lead, using language teaching as the medium. Throughout the year-long programme they grow in confidence and enhance their future career prospects.

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 were so enthusiastic and welcoming, especially at the end of the sessions when they had the opportunity to show their special visitors Acremont’s playground and tree house!
