KING’S Ely Senior students took to the school pool for the Dover to Calais Cross Channel Charity Swim just before the end of term.

The inaugural challenge saw swimmers using their best stroke to raise funds for Cancer Research UK, which was one of the school’s charities this year.

A team of girl swimmers from a very well supported Withburga House set the pace and were nearly two thirds of the way across the Channel before the Wilkinson House boys joined them to be the first team across in a time of 89 minutes.

This was followed by a very enthusiastic Boarders Team in a time of 108 minutes, with a smaller team of Torfrida House girls and Osmond House boys working terrifically hard to complete the crossing in 116 minutes.

The competitive yet fun-filled event raised more than £1,100 for Cancer Research UK.

Congratulations to everyone who was involved!
