REBECCA Daniel represented the East in her third consecutive Mini London Marathon and British Road Championship this month.

All participating athletes travelled down to London on Saturday to stay at the Royal Holloway, where they were given a series of talks by the Brownlee brothers and GB gymnast, Matt Whitlock. The race is run over the last 5K of the London Marathon course, and the field consists of the nine English regions and three home country teams from Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, together with representatives from the 33 London boroughs.

Rebecca finished a creditable 39th in a time of 18:05. Rebecca can now focus on the shorter middle distance track events, where she hopes to compete in the English Schools Athletic Championship at Gateshead in July.

Jim Thompson, Head of Athletics at King’s Ely, remarked: “This is another great performance from Rebecca. She is improving every year, and can now look forward to a successful track season this summer.”
