Our Year 9 curriculum is broad and balanced, with a careful mix of subject areas which develop mathematical and scientific understanding, an understanding and appreciation of languages, the arts and the worlds of the past, and help equip our young people with the knowledge, skills and imagination to shape our future. It’s a curriculum of head, heart, body and soul.

All students study Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, History, Religious Studies, Design and Technology, Computing and ICT, Art, Music, Drama, Physical Education and Personal Development.

In addition, all students will study either one or two Modern Foreign Languages (French, German or Spanish), with the exception of those for whom English is a second language or who require Learning Support. As part of the languages programme, pupils also learn some Mandarin. Additionally, some students will also study Latin and those not taking Latin will study Classical Civilisation.

The unique Ely Scheme outdoor education programme is part of the core curriculum for all pupils.

As part of their Personal Development programme, pupils will make guided and informed choices regarding their GCSE options.
