MORE than 20 of King’s Ely’s Year 10-13 rowers competed in the Newark Head in Nottinghamshire on December 1st, in what was their final official race of 2018.

The J18 double of William White and Artem Veriuzhskii recorded the fastest double time of the day to win their category.

The WJ18 double of Rahera Greatrex and Lucy Whiteside also stormed down the track to set the fastest female double time of the day.

Director of Sport at King’s Ely, Jim Thompson, said: “The Year 10 squad performed amicably, especially considering that they raced in the Year 11 categories. Conall Comley and Will Buckingham had a very pleasing row, as did the boys’ quad of Sam Martin, Ed Moss, Henry Bullivant, Hector McDonald and expertly coxed by Richard Garrard, who competed all the way with others in their category.

“A special mention must also go to Indra and Otilia Salgado who bow-steered their quads down the tricky, windy course excellently given it was only their 2nd time ever steering!”

Well done all!
